Cinderella Project of PA

Gowns for girls

UPDATE:

We will be closed through the winter months while we move to our new location and update our policies. We will continue to accept donations during this time.

Cinderella Project of PA

Cinderella Project of PA is a newly established non-profit organization which offers homecoming and prom dresses to girls in our local area who could otherwise not afford to buy them.

Teens simply borrow the dresses with a small refundable deposit, clean them, and then return them to be re-used.

We are in desperate need of donations for the 2009 - 2010 school year. All shapes, sizes, colors, lengths requested as long as they are in good wearable condition and current in styling!

Feel good knowing you've made a special night, even better!

We are a proud member of the national Donatemydress.org organization!

**We are also able to help those who need a formal dress for a special event, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you need a dress for a wedding,  pageant, etc.

Dresses donations

Dresses must be preferably no more than 5 years old and current in styling.

Donations do not have to be dry-cleaned prior to donation, however, dresses that are badly stained, damaged, or outdated will not be accepted.

We are accepting the following style dresses :

Bridesmaid, Cocktail, Prom, Cinderella Ball Gown, Homecoming, Evening Gowns, Mother-Of-Bride, Mother-Of-Groom, Wedding, Flower Girl, and Pageant gowns.

We accept dresses year round to keep our inventory full.

Cumberland

Families who reside further away, must keep that in mind when borrowing a dress. They MUST be returned, whether you live 5 minutes away or 1 hour away.

Non-profit status

Cinderella Project of PA is now under the United Way of Adams County. Tax donation receipts are available to those who donate items for itemization on their taxes at the end of the year.

How this works!

*** Please see the link to THE RULES for updated 11/7/09 policies

We lend dresses with a small refundable deposit, they are then cleaned, and returned within a 14  days of a dance or event.

Our program essentially works on the honor system, but to help ensure that our dresses are returned, we are asking for a $10.00 deposit for collateral on each gown loaned.  Ballgowns and Wedding dresses are a slightly higher deposit.

Borrower must be 18 years old and have a valid driver's license.

The deposit will then be returned when the dress is brought back clean.  We would like a dry cleaning receipt as proof as we do require that the gowns are cleaned prior to return.

Dry-cleaning a dress is not cheap, however, we figure that paying $15 - $25 to clean a dress is much more economical than paying $150 - $500 for a dress that may only be worn one time...plus the dry-cleaning bill.

For more information on dry-cleaning, please read our RULES link to the left of your screen.

Want to help but don't have a dress to donate?

If you'd like to make a cash donation, you may do so in person or by mail. We will be using the money to purchase additional clothing racks and fixtures, dress hangers, printed materials, and dresses that are suitable for our needs.

Checks should be made out to Cinderella Project/ UWAC

If you would like a receipt for your mailed donation, please include a self addressed stamped envelope and we will send you one for tax purposes.

Why did I start this organization?

I decided to start this organization after the death of my 15 year old son, Jamie. He was killed in a car accident Thanksgiving Day 2008. He was a sophomore at Bermudian Springs High School and on the varsity wrestling team. I needed something to help me get through these sorrowful days and to keep me occupied.  I am doing this to give back to the community.
